Making for an easy finish, Gorilla Glue is sandable, stainable and paintable. Once fully cured, Gorilla Glue can be sanded and then painted or sprayed with oil-based paint.
Gorilla Glue is activated by moisture. Lightly dampen either surface with water. Do not saturate the surface. Do not add water to bottle. All surfaces must be clean. Wear gloves to avoid contact with skin. Gorilla Glue will stain skin and ruin clothes.
Spread a thin layer of Gorilla Glue on either surface. While curing, glue will expand 3-4 times in size, so be careful of squeeze out. Do not over-apply glue.
Grip objects together for 1-2 hours. Use a heavy weight or Gorilla Tape® to achieve gripping pressure. The bond line improves with better gripping.
After each use, wipe nozzle clean with a dry cloth. Squeeze all air from bottle. While still squeezing, tightly replace lid.
Gorilla Glue is a moisture activated polyurethane adhesive – you need to apply a small amount of moisture to one surface. Then apply glue to the dry surface and clamp. For dense hardwoods, lightly dampen both surfaces prior to gluing.
It is strongly recommended that gloves are worn during application. If you do get Gorilla Glue on your skin, try removing it with a dry cloth or paper towel first (particularly if the glue is still tacky). If that doesn’t work, try washing with soap and cold water, or using an exfoliator with a gritty texture. Dry your skin and apply lotion. We do not recommend using any kind of alcohol, acetone, or other solvent.
If you need to remove any uncured “squeeze out” or wet glue, we recommend wiping with a dry cloth or using a standard paint thinner. Make sure to read and follow directions if using a paint thinner. Always wear gloves. Once Gorilla Glue is dry, it can only be mechanically: Try sanding, chiselling, scraping or picking. The dried glue will not damage tools.
Gorilla glue can be applied between 4°C to 54°C. Once cured Gorilla Glue can hold strong between -40°C to 100°C.
Gorilla Glue will work well on many types of plastic; however, we do not recommend for use on polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE) plastics or any type of rubber with high oil or plasticizer content.
